The study was a randomized double-blind placebo-controlled trial that included 154 patients. The patients were divided into two groups with one group receiving olmesartan and the other receiving a placebo. After eight weeks the olmesartan group had a significantly lower heart rate than the placebo group. The study’s authors conclude that olmesartan “is an effective and well-tolerated treatment for reducing heart rate in patients with hypertension.”
