Will County Covid Rate

The Will County Health Department (WCHD) is closely monitoring the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) situation. The health and safety of our residents is our top priority. As of March 10 2020 the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has confirmed six cases of COVID-19 in the United States. There are currently no confirmed cases in Will County.

The WCHD is working with the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) the CDC and other local partners to closely monitor the situation. We are also working to increase our capacity to test for COVID-19 and are working to obtain additional personal protective equipment (PPE) for our staff.

We are reminding our residents to take the following precautions:

Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue then throw the tissue in the trash.

Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose coughing or sneezing.

If soap and water are not readily available use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.

Avoid close contact with people who are sick.

Stay home when you are sick.

Avoid touching your eyes nose and mouth with unwashed hands.

Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
