“Why is Those Who Wish Me Dead rated R?
This question plagues me as I sit here in my theater seat waiting for the previews to start. I try to tell myself that it’s just a movie that it’s not real but I can’t help but feel a sense of dread as the lights dim and the screen comes to life.
I think about all of the times I’ve been in situations where I wished someone was dead. I think about the rage I felt when my ex-boyfriend cheated on me the jealousy I felt when my best friend got a new job the hate I felt when my brother was born.
I think about how easy it would be to kill someone. to just take a knife and plunge it into their chest. I think about how satisfying it would be to see the life drain from their eyes to know that I was the one who took it away.
And then the movie starts and I am transported into a world where people actually do kill each other. Where people’s wishes come true and they have to live with the consequences.
Those Who Wish Me Dead is a brutal unflinching look at the dark side of human nature. It’s a story about how easy it is to hate and how hard it is to forgive.
The movie is rated R for graphic violence language and some sexuality. It’s not for the faint of heart.
So why am I here? Why am I subjecting myself to this?
I guess I just need to see it. I need to see how far people can go when they wish someone dead. I need to see how dark the human heart can be.
And maybe just maybe I need to see that there is hope. That even in the darkest of times there is light.
those who wish me dead is rated R because it is incredibly violent. There is a lot of blood and gore and people are killed in very graphic ways. The movie is also very sweary with characters using a lot of profanity. Lastly there is some sexuality in the movie though it is not very explicit.
