The Ugly Truth is a 2009 American romantic comedy film directed by Robert Luketic written by Nicole Eastman Karen McCullah Lutz and Kirsten Smith and starring Katherine Heigl and Gerard Butler. The film follows Abby Richter (Heigl) a romantically frustrated morning show producer whose search for Mr. Right has led her to develop a serious case of relationship ADD. When her show’s ratings begin to slip Abby is desperate to find a solution and turns to Mike Chadway (Butler) the show’s crude and outspoken host for help.
At first Mike seems like the last person that Abby should be taking relationship advice from. He’s a confirmed bachelor who calls women “babes” and “honeys” and doesn’t believe in true love. But as Abby starts to follow Mike’s advice she begins to realize that maybe he knows a thing or two about relationships after all.
