Bella Swan is the protagonist of the Twilight series written by Stephenie Meyer. The novels have been made into a film series by Summit Entertainment with Kristen Stewart playing Bella in the films.
Bella is a teenage girl who moves to Forks Washington to live with her father Charlie Swan after her mother Renée remarries. Bella soon becomes attracted to Edward Cullen a vampire who belongs to a family of vampires who drink animal blood rather than human blood. Edward falls in love with Bella as well but he is reluctant to turn her into a vampire like himself because he knows that she would be in danger from other vampires if they knew about her.
The Cullens eventually allow Bella to become a vampire herself and she goes through a difficult transformation. Bella becomes a vampire in order to protect herself from the Volturi a powerful coven of vampires who believe that she poses a threat to their secret existence.
