A horned frog is any member of the Ceratophryinae a subfamily of South American frogs. The subfamily includes 56 species in six genera. They are among the largest frogs in the world with some reaching up to 18 cm (7 in) in length from snout to vent. All species have projecting “horns” above their eyes which vary greatly in shape and size between species. The body is stout and the limbs are short.
