Hop is a 2011 American 3D live-action/computer-animated buddy comedy film produced by Illumination Entertainment and distributed by Universal Pictures. The film was directed by Tim Hill from a screenplay by Cinco Paul and Ken Daurio. The film stars the voices of Russell Brand James Marsden Kaley Cuoco Hank Azaria Gary Cole David Hasselhoff and Chelsea Handler. The film’s soundtrack was composed by Christophe Beck.
The plot follows E.B. (Brand) the teenage son of the Easter Bunny who is groomed to take over the family business but dreams of becoming a drummer in a rock band. When E.B. is accidentally hit by Freddie (Marsden) a human he is taken to the hospital where Freddy’s father Henry (Cole) works. As E.B. recovered he and Freddy form a friendship and soon discover that their fathers are arch-rivals. After learning that Freddie’s father wants to get rid of Easter E.B. and Freddy team up to save the holiday.
Hop was released on April 1 2011 and grossed $186 million worldwide. The film received generally mixed reviews from critics but was a box office success. A sequel titled Hop 2: Easter Basket is in development.
