Bill Hemmer is leaving Fox News after more than two decades with the network.
Hemmer who has been with Fox News since its inception in 1996 announced his departure on Thursday morning.
“I have been extraordinarily blessed and I am so grateful to Fox News for the opportunities they have afforded me over the years” Hemmer said in a statement. “I am proud of the work we have done in the newsroom and I will always cherish the relationships I have made here.”
Hemmer who has been a co-anchor of “America’s Newsroom” since 2005 said he is leaving the network to “pursue new opportunities.”
“I want to thank Bill for his many years of service to Fox News” Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott said in a statement. “He has been a staple of our morning lineup and has been a great asset to the network. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”
Hemmer’s departure comes as Fox News is undergoing a major shakeup in the wake of the ouster of former network chief Roger Ailes amid sexual harassment allegations.
A number of high-profile Fox News personalities have left the network in recent months including Megyn Kelly Greta Van Susteren and Bill O’Reilly.
Hemmer is the latest in a string of departures from Fox News. On Wednesday it was announced that Fox News co-president Bill Shine was stepping down.
The shake-up at Fox News comes as the network faces increased competition from rival outlets like MSNBC and CNN.
In the ratings race Fox News has been losing ground to MSNBC in the key demographic of adults 25-54.
