The Marvel Cinematic Universe is no stranger to PG-13 ratings. Many of its most successful films including the Avengers movies and Black Panther have been rated PG-13 by the Motion Picture Association of America. But the MCU’s newest film Ant-Man and the Wasp is the first one to be rated PG-13 specifically for “sci-fi violence and action throughout and some language”.
So why is Ant-Man and the Wasp rated PG-13? Well according to Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige it’s because the movie is a bit more lighthearted than some of the other MCU films. “It is a lighter movie than some of the others” Feige told Collider. “I would say it’s probably on the level of probably a Spider-Man a Guardians of the Galaxy certainly not as intense as an Avengers movie.”
But don’t let the PG-13 rating fool you – Ant-Man and the Wasp is still an action-packed movie. In addition to the titular characters the film also features Ghost a new villain played by Hannah John-Kamen. And while the movie may not be as intense as an Avengers film it still features some pretty impressive action sequences.
So if you’re looking for a fun action-packed movie that’s still appropriate for younger audiences Ant-Man and the Wasp is definitely worth checking out.
