On January 3 2017 Megyn Kelly announced she was leaving Fox News for NBC. Many speculated as to why the popular host would make such a move and Kelly has finally revealed her motivations.
In an interview with Variety Kelly said that she was looking for a new challenge and felt that she had accomplished all she could at Fox News.
“I set out to do something different” Kelly said of her move to NBC. “I wanted to challenge myself. I wanted to grow.”
Kelly also said that she was drawn to NBC’s “diverse” offerings citing the network’s news entertainment and sports divisions.
“They have the news that I love they have the sports that I love they have the entertainment that I love” Kelly said. “It just feels like a more well-rounded place.”
Finally Kelly said that she was excited to start a new chapter in her life.
“I just feel like it’s time for a change” Kelly said. “And this feels like the right place for me to be.”
Kelly’s move to NBC is certainly a surprising one but it seems clear that she had her reasons. Only time will tell if the popular host is able to find the same level of success at her new network.
