After the release of the first Transformers movie in 2007 Megan Fox shot to superstardom. According to reports Fox was not happy with the direction her character was going in the third film. She felt that her role was becoming increasingly one-dimensional and wanted to explore other projects. Additionally it’s been speculated that Fox’s personal life may have played a role in her decision to leave the franchise. In 2009 she married actor Brian Austin Green and the following year the couple welcomed their first child. It’s possible that Fox wanted to take a break from action-packed blockbusters to focus on her young family.
Whatever the reasons behind her departure it’s clear that Fox was not interested in returning for another Transformers film. She was replaced by Rosie Huntington-Whiteley who did an admirable job in the role but couldn’t quite fill Fox’s shoes. The third Transformers movie was a box office success but it failed to match the critical and commercial acclaim of its predecessors.
