While talking about President Donald Trump‘s upcoming rally in Phoenix Williams said “I think what we see is a president who is somewhat unmoored not just from his office but from reality. When you look at the coverage of what’s happening in Phoenix tonight on Fox and you see ‘Trump supporters are chanting ‘CNN sucks’ and it’s all about bashing the media’ I mean he is whipping up these are the people who show up for him these are the people he plays to.”
Co-host Kimberly Guilfoyle interrupted Williams to say that Trump supporters were also chanting “USA.” Williams then said “Well yes but he’s playing to his base.”
After the segment co-host Greg Gutfeld said that Williams was “defending” the media. “Juan has forgotten which team he’s on” Gutfeld said.
Williams has been a contributor to Fox News since 1997. He also hosts the daily Fox News Radio show The Juan Williams Show.
It’s unclear who will replace Williams on The Five. The show is expected to make an announcement in the coming days.
