When They Spotted The Alligator

The alligator was sunning itself on the bank basking in the warm Florida sun. It was a large alligator at least 12 feet long and it looked very menacing. But the alligator was just minding its own business and posed no threat to the people who were walking by.

Still when they saw the alligator they stopped and took some photos. And then they started throwing sticks and rocks at the alligator trying to get it to move. The alligator just sat there unperturbed.

Eventually the alligator got tired of the harassment and slid into the water. The people who had been throwing things at it cheered and high-fived each other.

It’s not clear why they felt the need to bother the alligator. Perhaps they were just curious. Or maybe they were trying to prove something to themselves or to their friends. Either way it was a senseless act of animal cruelty.
