The 2016 South Carolina deer season will begin on Saturday September 10 for most areas of the state. Antlerless deer may be taken statewide during the entire 16-day season. In addition deer of either sex may be taken on all days in most counties south of I-20 and all days in York Chester Fairfield Lancaster and Cherokee counties. Up to three antlered deer may be taken statewide during the season but only one antlered deer may be taken per day.

Deer hunting hours will be one-half hour before sunrise to one-half hour after sunset. The use of dogs will be allowed for hunting deer during all open deer seasons except during the two deer dog training days.

The taking of deer by the use of baited areas is prohibited. A baited area is defined as any area where grain salt or other foodstuff has been placed exposed deposited distributed or scattered so as to constitute an attractant lure or bait or to serve as a food source for deer.
