The first time that Snake Eyes appeared on screen was in the 1981 movie “Escape from New York.” He was played by actor Christopher Reeve. In the movie Snake Eyes was a member of a special forces team that was sent into New York City to rescue the President of the United States who had been taken hostage by criminals.
Snake Eyes was not originally intended to be a main character in the movie. However the director John Carpenter was so impressed with Reeve’s performance that he decided to make the character a larger part of the story.
