There are more than 260 species of monkeys in the world divided into two main groups: Old World monkeys which are native to Africa and Asia; and New World monkeys which are found in Central and South America. Old World monkeys include baboons macaques and mandrills while New World monkeys include marmosets capuchins and squirrel monkeys.
So what type of monkey are you?
If you’re an Old World monkey you’re likely to be larger in size than your New World counterpart with a longer tail. You might also have more hair on your body and your face may be more flat and elongated. Old World monkeys are also generally more social creatures living in large troops while New World monkeys are more likely to be found in smaller groups or even alone.
As for behavior Old World monkeys are generally more aggressive than New World monkeys and have been known to attack humans. They are also more likely to use their tails for balance rather than for communication. New World monkeys on the other hand are generally more timid and less likely to attack. They also use their tails for communication wrapping them around branches or each other when they want to send a message.
