According to a recent study Fox News is the most-watched cable news channel in the United States with an average of 2.4 million viewers. This is significantly higher than the average viewership of the other two major cable news channels CNN and MSNBC which are both averaging 1.2 million viewers.
Interestingly the study found that Fox News viewers are also more likely to be dedicated to the channel than viewers of other channels. In fact nearly 60% of Fox News viewers say they watch the channel “most of the time” compared to just 38% of CNN viewers and 32% of MSNBC viewers.
This loyalty may be due in part to the fact that Fox News offers a distinctive perspective on the news. The channel has been accused of having a conservative bias and while it does feature some conservative commentators it also has many liberal and nonpartisan commentators as well.
Regardless of its political leanings there’s no doubt that Fox News has a large and loyal audience. And with the 2016 presidential election just around the corner that audience is only likely to grow.
