That’s exactly what “Snakes on a Plane” is – a crazy over-the-top thriller that delivers on its promises of suspense scares and non-stop action. The plot is simple enough: an FBI agent (Samuel L. Jackson) is escorting a witness (Nathan Phillips) on a flight from Hawaii to Los Angeles when a crate full of snakes is unleashed in the cabin.
The snakes of course are not your average garden variety. They’re highly venomous and determined to kill everyone on board. It’s up to Jackson and the other passengers to fight for their lives and bring the plane down safely.
“Snakes on a Plane” is the perfect summer popcorn movie – it’s mindless fun that doesn’t take itself too seriously. The acting is campy and over-the-top ( Jackson is especially good at chewing the scenery) and the effects are cheesy but effective. The real star of the show however is the snakes themselves.
These reptiles are convincingly creepy and their behavior is appropriately sinister. They’re not just slithering around aimlessly – they’re actively hunting their prey and they’re not afraid to strike.
The film is admittedly ridiculous but it’s also a whole lot of fun. If you’re looking for a solid B-movie that delivers on its promise of scares and thrills “Snakes on a Plane” is well worth your time.
