Origami is the ancient Japanese art of paper folding. The word “origami” is derived from the Japanese words “ori” (to fold) and “kami” (paper).
Although origami is often associated with simple paper cranes and other animals it can be quite complex. Some of the more intricate designs can take hours to complete.
One of the more popular origami animals is the origami frog. In this post we’ll show you how to make your own origami frog.
This origami frog is intermediate level meaning it’s not too difficult but it’s not the easiest either. If you’re a beginner we recommend trying one of the simpler origami animals such as the origami crane before tackling this one.
You will need two pieces of square paper to make this origami frog. The traditional origami paper is square and has different colors on each side. This is called “kami” paper and it’s what we recommend using for this project. However you can also use construction paper printer paper or even scrapbook paper. Just make sure both pieces of paper are the same size.
Once you have your paper follow these instructions:
1. Start with a square piece of paper colored side up. Fold the paper in half along the diagonal to create a triangle.
2. Unfold the triangle and then fold it in half the other way to create another triangle.
3. Unfold the triangle and then fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
4. Unfold the triangle and then fold the top corner down to the bottom corner again.
5. Now you should have a small triangle at the top of your paper. Hold onto this triangle and bring the rest of the paper up so that the triangle is at the top and the rest of the paper is folded in half.
6. Grab the top two corners of the paper and fold them down so they meet in the middle.
7. Flip the paper over and holding onto the triangle at the top fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
8. Unfold the triangle and then fold it in half the other way to create another triangle.
9. Unfold the triangle and then fold the top corner down to the bottom corner again.
10. Now you should have a small triangle at the top of your paper. Hold onto this triangle and bring the rest of the paper up so that the triangle is at the top and the rest of the paper is folded in half.
11. Flip the paper over and holding onto the triangle at the top fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
12. Unfold the triangle and then fold it in half the other way to create another triangle.
13. Unfold the triangle and then fold the top corner down to the bottom corner again.
14. Now you should have a small triangle at the top of your paper. Hold onto this triangle and bring the rest of the paper up so that the triangle is at the top and the rest of the paper is folded in half.
15. Flip the paper over and holding onto the triangle at the top fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
16. Unfold the triangle and then fold it in half the other way to create another triangle.
17. Unfold the triangle and then fold the top corner down to the bottom corner again.
18. Now you should have a small triangle at the top of your paper. Hold onto this triangle and bring the rest of the paper up so that the triangle is at the top and the rest of the paper is folded in half.
19. Flip the paper over and holding onto the triangle at the top fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
20. Unfold the triangle and then fold it in half the other way to create another triangle.
21. Unfold the triangle and then fold the top corner down to the bottom corner again.
22. Now you should have a small triangle at the top of your paper. Hold onto this triangle and bring the rest of the paper up so that the triangle is at the top and the rest of the paper is folded in half.
23. Flip the paper over and holding onto the triangle at the top fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
24. Unfold the triangle and then fold it in half the other way to create another triangle.
25. Unfold the triangle and then fold the top corner down to the bottom corner again.
26. Now you should have a small triangle at the top of your paper. Hold onto this triangle and bring the rest of the paper up so that the triangle is at the top and the rest of the paper is folded in half.
27. Flip the paper over and holding onto the triangle at the top fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
28. Unfold the triangle and then fold it in half the other way to create another triangle.

42. Now you should have a small triangle at the top of your paper. Hold onto this triangle and bring the rest of the paper up so that the triangle is at the top and the rest of the paper is folded in half.
43. Flip the paper over and holding onto the triangle at the top fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
44. Unfold the triangle and then fold it in half the other way to create another triangle.
45. Unfold the triangle and then fold the top corner down to the bottom corner again.
46. Now you should have a small triangle at the top of your paper. Hold onto this triangle and bring the rest of the paper up so that the triangle is at the top and the rest of the paper is folded in half.
47. Flip the paper over and holding onto the triangle at the top fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
48. Unfold the triangle and then fold it in half the other way to create another triangle.
49. Unfold the triangle and then fold the top corner down to the bottom corner again.
50. Now you should have a small triangle at the top of your paper. Hold onto this triangle and bring the rest of the paper up so that the triangle is at the top and the rest of the paper is folded in half.
51. Flip the paper over and holding onto the triangle at the top fold the top corner down to the bottom corner.
52. Unfold the triangle and then fold it in half the other way to create another triangle.
