1. Cut the toes off the socks. You will now have two long tube-like socks.
2. Turn one tube inside out. This will be the body of the monkey.
3. Tie a knot about 3 inches from the cut end of the tube. This will be the monkey’s neck.
4. Stuff the tube with polyester fiberfill starting at the neck and working down. Stop stuffing when you reach the point where the tube starts to curve (this will be the monkey’s bottom).
5. Turn the other tube inside out. This will be the arms and legs of the monkey.
6. Tie a knot about 3 inches from the cut end of the tube. This will be one of the monkey’s arms.
7. Cut the tube at the knot. You will now have two sleeves. Repeat steps 6 and 7 for the other tube.
8. Sew the arms and legs onto the body. You can do this by hand or with a sewing machine using a whip stitch or a zigzag stitch.
9. Embroider a mouth onto the monkey’s face. You can also add a nose with a few stitches of black thread.
10. Sew on the buttons for eyes.
11. If you want you can add a ribbon or yarn tail.
Your sock monkey is now complete!

How do you make a sock monkey without a sewing machine?

Find a sock that you would like to use for your monkey.
It can be any color or pattern imaginable.

You will now have two tube-like halves of the sock.

Turn one of the halves of the sock inside out.
This will be the body of your sock monkey.

Stuff the body of your sock monkey with fiberfill stuffing.

Knot the open end of the sock body to close it.
6.
Cut the other half of the sock into three pieces.
Two of these pieces will be the arms of your monkey and the third piece will be the monkey’s tail.
7.
Turn the arms of your monkey inside out and stuff them with fiberfill or other materials.
Knot the open ends to close them.
8.
Attach the arms to the body of the monkey by tying knots in the fabric.
9.
Turn the tail of your monkey inside out and stuff it with fiberfill or other materials.
Knot the open end to close it.
10.
Attach the tail to the body of the monkey by tying a knot in the fabric.
11.
To make the monkey’s head take the toe of the sock that you cut off in step 2.
Turn it inside out and stuff it with fiberfill or other materials.
12.
Knot the open end of the sock to close it.
13.
Attach the head to the body of the monkey by tying knots in the fabric.
14.
To make the monkey’s ears cut two small pieces of fabric from the sock.
These can be any shape or size that you like.
15.
Attach the ears to the head of the monkey by tying knots in the fabric.
