If you’re a big fan of The Wizard of Oz then you know that the lion is an important character in the story. And what better way to show your love for the film than by wearing a homemade lion costume?
Here’s what you’ll need to make your own Lion Costume:
-a large piece of gold fabric (you can find this at a fabric store)
-a pair of gold leggings or tights
-a gold shirt or tunic
-a gold headband
-a mane made from gold yarn or fabric
-a tail (optional)
Instructions:
1. Cut a large piece of gold fabric into a circle. This will be the base of your skirt.
2. Put on the gold leggings or tights.
3. Put on the gold shirt or tunic.
4. Wrap the fabric around your waist and tie it in place.
5. Put on the gold headband.
6. Attach the mane to the headband. You can use yarn or fabric strips for this.
7. If you want you can add a tail. Cut a long strip of gold fabric and safety pin it to the back of your skirt.
You’re now ready to take on the role of the Cowardly Lion!

Sew the head to the body using a needle and thread.
How do you make the lion claws?
Cut triangles out of a white felt sheet and then hot glue them to the tips of brown yarn gloves.
How do you make the lion teeth?
Cut teeth shapes out of a white felt sheet and then hot glue them to the mouth of the lion head.
How do you make the lion eyes?
Cut eye shapes out of a white felt sheet and then hot glue them to the face of the lion head.
What other supplies are needed to complete the costume?
To complete the costume you will need a brown yarn wig a gold yarn rope brown yarn gloves and a white felt sheet.
How do you put the costume on?
Put on the brown yarn wig and the gloves.
Then step into the lion body and pull it up.
Finally put on the head and tie the gold yarn rope around your waist.
How do you care for the costume?
The costume should be spot cleaned as needed.
How long will the costume last?
With proper care the costume should last for many years.
