Deer are elegant creatures that often evoke feelings of awe and wonder. Though they are typically associated with forested areas deer can actually live in a wide variety of habitats. In North America for example you can find deer in woodlands grasslands and even deserts.

When drawing a deer it’s important to start with the basic shape of the animal’s body. To do this sketch out a rough rectangle. This will be the deer’s torso. Then add a smaller rectangle on top for the deer’s head. Next draw two large circles for the deer’s eyes. Finally add an upside down “U” shape beneath the deer’s head for the deer’s mouth.
Now that you have the basic shapes in place you can start to add in the details. For the antlers start by drawing two large curved lines extending out from the top of the deer’s head. Then add a series of smaller lines radiating out from these two main lines.
To finish up your drawing add in the deer’s fur. Start by drawing a series of curved lines along the deer’s back. Then add in some smaller lines to create the deer’s fur. Erase any remaining lines that you don’t need and you’re finished!
