Jeanine Pirro is an American television personality and former judge who currently hosts Fox News Channel’s Justice with Judge Jeanine. She is also a regular contributor on The Five. Pirro was born on June 2 1951 in Elmira New York. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1969 and earned a B.A. from the University of Buffalo in 1973. She then attended Albany Law School graduating in 1976.
Pirro began her career as an assistant district attorney in Westchester County New York in 1977. She rose to prominence in the 1980s and 1990s as the county’s first female district attorney. She prosecuted a number of high-profile cases including the murder trial of New York Mafia boss Carmine Persico. In 1993 she was appointed a judge on the New York State Court of Appeals the state’s highest court.
In 1995 Pirro ran for the office of county executive in Westchester County but was defeated in the Republican primary. She later ran for the Republican nomination for the U.S. Senate in 2006 but withdrew from the race before the primary.
In November 2008 Pirro was hired as a contributor on Fox News Channel. She currently hosts the weekend show Justice with Judge Jeanine and is a regular contributor on The Five.
Pirro has been married to Albert Pirro a lobbyist and former political consultant since 1975. The couple has two children.
