Dana Perino is a co-host of Fox News Channel’s “The Five” and a former White House Press Secretary under President George W. Bush. She is 44 years old.
Dana Perino was born in 1972 in Wyoming. She is the middle child of Jan and Leo Perino. Her father was a schoolteacher and her mother was a stay-at-home mom. Perino graduated from Ponderosa High School in Parker Colorado in 1990. She then attended Colorado State University where she majored in mass communications and journalism.
Perino began her career in politics as a research assistant for then-Congressman Dan Schaefer of Colorado. She later served as a press secretary for the U.S. Department of Education and the U.S. Department of Justice. In 2001 she became the press secretary for the U.S. Department of Interior.
In 2005 Perino was named the deputy press secretary for the White House. In 2007 she became the press secretary succeeding Tony Snow. She was the first woman to hold that position.
Perino left the White House in 2009 and joined Fox News Channel as a contributor. In 2010 she became a co-host of “The Five.” She has also hosted her own show “The Daily Briefing with Dana Perino.”
Perino is the author of the book “And the Good News Is…” as well as “Let Me Tell You about Jasper.” She is also a contributor to The Washington Post.
In 2018 Perino was inducted into the Broadcasting Hall of Fame.
