The study which is set to be published in the journal Frontiers in Public Health surveyed 1004 people in Switzerland who were quarantined due to the outbreak.
Of those surveyed the majority (74.4 percent) said they had not had sex during the quarantine while 25.6 percent said they had.
Those who had sex during the quarantine were more likely to report symptoms of the coronavirus such as fever cough and shortness of breath.
The study’s lead author Nicoletta Gagliardi said that the findings suggest that sexual activity may “enhance the risk of contracting and/or transmitting” the coronavirus.
Gagliardi added that the findings “support the need for comprehensive public health measures that promote safe sex practices during the outbreak.”
So if you’re thinking about having sex during the quarantine you may want to think twice. It’s not worth risking your health – or the health of your partner.
