Do Ostrich Bite

Do Ostriches Bite?

This is a question that we get asked a lot here at the Ostriches Online farm. And the answer is… it depends!

Ostriches are generally gentle creatures but they are still wild animals and can bite if they feel threatened or if they are being handled roughly.

That said we have never had an ostrich bite anyone here at the farm (knock on wood!) and we have had people stick their hands in an ostrich’s mouth with no problems.

Of course as with any animal there is always a risk of being bitten when working with ostriches. We always recommend using caution and good judgement when handling these magnificent creatures.
