After spending nearly two decades with Fox Sports NFL legend Terry Bradshaw is leaving the company.
The four-time Super Bowl champion quarterback made the announcement on Monday morning saying he was “retiring” from his role as an NFL analyst on Fox.
“I want to thank Fox for giving me the opportunity to be a part of their family for the last 18 years” Bradshaw said in a statement. “I will always be grateful for the relationships I’ve formed both in and out of the booth and I have nothing but the utmost respect for the network.
“I want to especially thank David Hill Eric Shanks and Ed Goren for their support and friendship. I will miss everybody but I’m looking forward to the next phase of my life and what the future holds.”
The 71-year-old Bradshaw joined Fox in 1998 after a successful broadcasting career with CBS. He was quickly paired with fellow analyst Howie Long and the two became one of the most popular broadcast teams in sports.
In recent years Bradshaw had taken on a reduced role at Fox appearing on pregame shows and making occasional appearances on other Fox Sports programming. He had been absent from Fox’s NFL coverage in recent weeks with the network instead opting to use former NFL players Michael Strahan and Tony Gonzalez in his place.
It’s unclear what Bradshaw’s future holds now that he is leaving Fox. He could potentially retire from broadcasting altogether or he could resurface at another network.
For now Bradshaw will be remembered as one of the most popular and colorful personalities in the history of sports broadcasting. He will be missed by Fox and its viewers.
