In 2017 De’Aaron Fox was a high school basketball superstar. He was the nation’s top-ranked point guard and a McDonald’s All-American. He had scholarship offers from some of the biggest programs in the country.
But Fox chose to play his college ball a little closer to home. He committed to the University of Kentucky where he would team up with fellow blue-chip recruits Malik Monk and Bam Adebayo.
The Wildcats were a powerhouse winning the SEC regular season and tournament titles. They entered the NCAA tournament as the number two seed in the South Region.
Fox was a key player for Kentucky averaging 16.7 points and 4.6 assists per game. He was at his best in the NCAA tournament averaging 19.2 points in four games.
