While a snail’s three-year sleep might seem like a long time it’s actually not that uncommon for animals to enter into periods of extended sleep. Bears for example can sleep for up to seven months during the winter. And some animals like toads can even survive being frozen solid for months at a time!
So the next time you see a snail crawling around don’t be too quick to judge. The creature might just be taking a well-deserved nap!
