It’s still not entirely clear why snakes lost their limbs. It’s possible that it was an advantage for them to be more flexible and agile without legs getting in the way. Or it may have helped them to better camouflage themselves on the ground.
Whatever the reason snakes have been successful without legs for millions of years. And while they may not be the most agile creatures on the planet they can still slither their way into our hearts.
