The letter A is for Ant. Ants are small hard-working insects that live in colonies. They are very important in the environment because they help to recycle nutrients back into the soil.
There are many different kinds of ants but the most common type in North America is the black carpenter ant. Carpenter ants get their name from their habit of building their nests in wood.

Carpenter ants are important in the environment because they help to break down wood. This process helps to recycle nutrients back into the soil.
If you see a carpenter ant in your home it is important to contact a pest control professional to have the nest removed. Otherwise the carpenter ants can cause damage to your home.
