On May 12 2016 Pig Howard was dismissed from the Tennessee Titans. The Titans cited “failure to disclose a physical condition” as the reason for the release.
It was later revealed that Howard had been dealing with a left knee injury that he had suffered during the 2015 season. Howard did not disclose the injury to the team and played through the pain.
The Titans claim that they were not aware of the injury until Howard underwent a routine physical examination. When the team doctors saw the extent of the damage they immediately shut Howard down.
The Titans were not happy with Howard’s decision to play through the pain and felt that he had put the team at risk by not disclosing the injury. This coupled with the fact that Howard was scheduled to make $1.25 million in 2016 led to his release.
So far Howard has not been able to find another team to sign him. His knee injury has likely scared off potential suitors. At this point it’s unclear if Howard will ever play in the NFL again.
