Why Is Spider-Man: No Way Home Rated Pg-13

Spider-Man: No Way Home is a highly anticipated upcoming American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is intended to be the sequel to Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019) and the 24th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). In February 2019 following the success of Far From Home it was revealed that the title of the sequel would be Spider-Man: No Way Home. The film was officially announced that June with Watts and the cast returning from the previous two films and was initially scheduled to be released on July 16 2021. However due to the COVID-19 pandemic the release was pushed back to December 17 2021.

On December 10 2020 the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) announced that Spider-Man: No Way Home had been rated PG-13 for “sequences of action violence some language and brief suggestive material”. The film’s running time is 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Spider-Man: No Way Home is one of the most highly anticipated films of 2021. Early reviews have been highly positive with many praising the film’s action humor and performances. The film is currently projected to gross over $1 billion at the worldwide box office.

However some have criticized the film’s PG-13 rating. They argue that the film’s violence and language warrant a more restrictive rating such as R.
