It is with great sadness that we must report the death of beloved actor and activist Michael J. Fox. The actor passed away on Wednesday March 4th 2020 surrounded by his family and friends after a long battle with Parkinson’s disease. He was just 56 years old.
Michael J. Fox was born in Edmonton Alberta Canada on June 9th 1961. He began his acting career when he was just 15 years old landing the lead role in the Canadian sitcom “Leap Year”. He went on to star in the hit series “Family Ties” for which he won three Emmy Awards and the iconic “Back to the Future” trilogy.
In 1991 Fox was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and he bravely continued to work despite his battle with the disease. He became an advocate for Parkinson’s research and founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation which has raised over $650 million for Parkinson’s research.
Fox is survived by his wife Tracy Pollan and their four children.
The world has lost a truly remarkable human being. Michael J. Fox touched the lives of so many people and his work will continue to inspire generations to come.
