The Dark Knight Rises is the third and final installment in Christopher Nolan’s Batman film trilogy. The film is scheduled to be released on July 20 2012 in the United States.
According to the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) the film has been rated PG-13 for “intense sequences of violence and action some of which may be too intense for younger viewers.”

According to Nolan the film will focus on the themes of “fear chaos and pain.” He also said that the film will be “a very mature dark complex movie.”
In an interview with The Huffington Post Anne Hathaway who plays Selina Kyle/Catwoman in the film said that the film is “not for kids.” She also said that the film is “dark and intense and amazing.”
Hathaway’s co-star Christian Bale who plays Bruce Wayne/Batman in the film also told The Huffington Post that the film is “not for kids.” He also said that the film is “pretty dark.”
So it seems pretty clear that The Dark Knight Rises is not a film for children. It is a dark intense and mature film that is probably not suitable for younger viewers.
