In 2018 Fox News host Tucker Carlson called Putin a “better leader” than US President Donald Trump. Carlson also said that Putin is “not a bad guy.”
Critics have accused Fox News of being “pro-Putin” and of ” whitewashing ” his image.

Critics have accused Fox News of being “pro-Putin.” In 2018 Media Matters for America released a report which found that Fox News had “systematically portray[ed] Putin in a positive light.”
The report found that Fox News had aired segments which “cast Putin as a reasonable leader” ” minimized Putin’s aggression” and ” downplayed Russian interference in the 2016 election.”
Fox News has been accused of “whitewashing” Putin’s image. In 2018 The Daily Beast reported that Fox News had “spent years downplaying Vladimir Putin’s atrocities.”
The Daily Beast also reported that Fox News had “cast Putin as a heroic figure.”
