Ostriches are the largest living bird in the world. They’re also the fastest two-legged animal on the planet capable of running up to 43 miles per hour! And if that wasn’t impressive enough they can also go without drinking water for days.
Despite their size and power ostriches are actually quite gentle creatures. They’re very social animals and live in groups called flocks. Each flock has a dominant male several females and their young.
When it comes to mating the males are quite the show-offs. They will strut around puffing out their chests and making loud noises to attract the females. Once a female chooses a mate they will mate for life.
Now that you know a little bit about these amazing birds let’s learn how to draw one!
Step 1: Draw the Head
To start draw the ostrich’s head. It’s sort of oval-shaped and has a small curved beak. Then add two small circles for the eyes.
Step 2: Draw the Neck and Body
Next draw a long neck coming down from the head. Then add the body which is kinda like an egg shape. Make sure the body is much bigger than the head.
Step 3: Draw the Legs
Ostriches have long legs so draw two long legs coming down from the body. Make the legs slightly thicker at the bottom where the feet will go.
Step 4: Draw the Feet
Ostriches have two toes on each foot so draw two small oval shapes at the end of each leg.
Step 5: Draw the Wings
Ostriches don’t actually fly but they do have small wings. Draw two small wing shapes coming off the body.
Step 6: Draw the Feathers
To finish up draw some feathers coming off the head and body. Ostriches have black and white feathers so alternate between the two colors.
