“How to Crochet a Snake”

Don’t be afraid of the reptilian hiss crocheting a snake is a piece of cake! Follow these simple steps and you’ll have your very own crochet snake in no time.

What You’ll Need:

-1 skein of yarn in green black or brown

-Crochet hook

-Scissors

-Stuffing

-Yarn needle

Instructions:

1. Start by crocheting a long thin rectangle. The length will depend on how long you want your snake but a good rule of thumb is to make it about twice as long as it is wide.

2. Once you have your rectangle fold it in half lengthwise and sew the two sides together using a yarn needle.

3. Next take your yarn needle and insert it through the center of the tube you just created. Pull the needle through leaving a long tail of yarn.

4. Cut a piece of yarn about 18 inches long and tie it off around the tube cinching it closed. This will be the snake’s head.

5. To make the snake’s eyes simply tie off two small pieces of yarn around the head.

6. For the tongue cut a small triangle out of red felt and glue it onto the front of the head.

7. To stuff the snake simply insert the stuffing through the hole in the head. Once the snake is stuffed to your liking use the yarn needle to sew the hole shut.

8. To finish crochet a small loop at the end of the tail. This will be used to hang your snake up when you’re finished playing with it!
