Frogs and toads are both amphibians which means they can live on land and in water. But there are some big differences between these two types of animals. For example frogs have smoother skin than toads. And frogs usually have longer legs which help them jump farther than toads can. Toads on the other hand have drier skin that is covered in warts. And toads prefer to spend their time on the ground instead of jumping around.
One of the biggest differences between frogs and toads is the way they reproduce. Frogs lay their eggs in water where the young tadpoles can develop. Toads lay their eggs on land and the young toadlets hatch fully-formed and don’t go through a tadpole stage.
Frogs and toads also have different diets. Frogs are carnivores and will eat just about anything they can fit in their mouths including insects worms and other small animals. Toads are mostly herbivores and prefer to eat things like berries leaves and flowers.
So there are some big differences between frogs and toads. But they are both still amphibians!
